Phd Candidate and Graduate Research Assistant
The University of Texas at Austin
Austin, TX, United States
Jennifer is a P.h.D student who earned her M.S. and B.S. in Transportation and Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Working under Dr. Randy Machemehl since 2017, her research has spanned transportation system operations, public transportation demand modeling, traffic data acquisition, traffic simulation, optimization, and bicycle safety. Some of her clients include the City of Austin Transportation Department, the City of Austin Vision Zero, The University of Texas at Austin Parking Services, and the Center for Advanced Multimodal Mobility Solutions and Education (CAMMSE). Overall, the goal of her research is to aid in the implementation and bettering of the active and public transportation network in Texas. Jennifer believes that one of the most important components of this process is ensuring equity, sustainability, and safety for all users are met.
Outside of research, Jennifer is the vice president of publicity for the Women in Transportation Seminar at UT Austin. This position requires maintaining an active presence throughout all social media platforms, overseeing the distribution of notices and flyers, and finally coordinating presentations and events with professors, companies, and organizations who seek an audience with UT transportation graduate students.
Some of Jennifer's accolades include the University Transportation Centers (UTC) Outstanding Student of the Year Award (Fall 2021), and the Jack and Beverly Randall Endowed Graduate Student Fellowship for Excellence in Civil Engineering (Fall, 2020). Jennifer also won 1st place in CAMMSE's 2021 Graduate Student Presentation competition in the Fall of 2021.
