Ms. Yang Xu is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Transportation Engineering of the Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) at The University of Texas at Austin. Before pursuing her doctorate degree, Ms. Xu accomplished her master’s degree in the Construction Engineering and Project Management (CEPM) program at CAEE in May 2018. She received her bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Southeast University (Nanjing, China). Her current research interest is to implement artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) algorithms to facilitate decision makings in infrastructure management and transportation safety. Ms. Xu is actively conducting research on roadway safe analysis and crash hot spot identification, which aims to improve the safety performance of roadways across the nation. Her career objective is to improve the efficiency of infrastructure management, reduce fatalities and serious injuries caused by traffic crashes, and ultimately build novel infrastructure that can fulfill the needs of electric and autonomous vehicles.
