Sajid Raza is a research assistant in transportation engineering at the Western Institute of Transportation. engineering. His research interests include the development of methods and tools for traffic operation analysis, impact assessment of ITS applications on traffic safety and efficiency, and exploration of transportation big data including spatio-temporal data of traffic on freeways.
He has developed solid research and analytical skills during his studies and received a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis on Transportation Engineering, from the University of Alaska Anchorage, USA. During his master’s studies, he was awarded a Graduate Research Assistantship that provided him with opportunities to work on research projects sponsored by the State DOT. He has acquainted with statistical software (SPSS, Minitab), geographical software (GIS/QGIS), and traffic analysis software (HCS). He has practical experience with programming in Matlab, python, SQL and using them for big data mining and data management.
Sajid is also an active member of ASCE, ITE, and other international transportation bodies.
