Samuel (Sam) Ricord is in his fourth year as Ph.D. student research assistant in the University of Washington Smart Applications and Research (STAR) Lab in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is passionate about creating a positive impact in society; hence his current work focuses on many aspects of transportation equity, including safety equity in tribal areas, data equity and equity biases of transportation datasets, and equity analysis of toll facilities. He does this through many collaborations, including with tribal governments throughout the Pacific Northwest and the Washington State DOT, among others.
